mergers and acquisitions come under successor of interest and GC process is usually status quo. at yous stage, M&A wouldnt need any inputs from ur side. Confirm with attorney.

Raj,
That will take some creative googling. Clearly, tech/South Asian professional associations are our best target audience, but at the very least you'll find regional associations -- Tamil, Telugu, who knows maybe even the Bengalis!
The other type of organizations to call are the development based ones (like Asha, Seva)-- they will at least know of other community organizations.
Is there anyone else out there in Seattle? Any ideas?
best,
Berkeleybee

I have
EB3 140 approved for June 2004
and
EB2 140 approved for May 2006
My lawyer said that they will file a petiton to apply my EB2 status to my EB3 dates as soon as dates for EB2 cross June 2004
But now, In this August VB , My EB2 became current .
What I did not anticipate was the huge 2 year+ jump in EB2 dates
My 485 was filed in July 2007 and shows the status pending since then.
I asked my lawyer which 140 did he use to apply my 485 and he says "Both"
I am confused with a couple of things
1. Is it possible to file 485 by sending in both 140s. I asked the lawyer and he said that NOW since the date has jumped more than 2 years it is not advisable to file petiton to move dates .
2. If I call USCIS , will they be able to tell me which 140 was used to file my 485:confused:

I'm a July 2007 filer going to file for my EAD for the first time. Since I'm currently on H1B, how should I answer this question
I'm applying for:
a) Permission to accept employment
b) Replacement
c) Renewal of my permission to accept employment
I think I need to go with option "c" since moving from H1B to EAD would qualify for a "c" response
Please advise.....
Thanks

Don't worry.
you can go to FP location on your appointment day and they will give you a FP appliation form fill up with with your new address and tell them that you moved out of the location after getting the FP notices...and also Fill AR-11 form ASAP and also call customer service tell them you need to change the address.......
you can also goto any other location if you want on wednesday walk-in's only..........best thing is call customer service if you have any questions............that's what I did........
My 485 address is MA(permanent) and current address is CA(temp)
I asked FP officer my temp and permanent addresses are different what do you want to me to put on the applicaiton form she said you can put what ever you want for corresponence......I said I want my permanent address then she wrote 'same' on my application.........as notice addresss.

AILA Leadership Has Just Posted the Following:
In an interview on David Letterman (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpvNXPPOMr8), actor Robert Downey, Jr., talked about a problem he had last year in Japan, when upon entering he was detained and questioned about his past criminal record. Downey said: I probably should have seen there was a sign that said 'No Felons Allowed' in English and Japanese and I haven't had that expunged yet," he said. "You can actually get things expunged but I've been pretty busy. So I was detained, I was interrogated. It was a blast.
Haven't you settled up? Haven't you paid your debts? Letterman asked.
Clearly I haven't paid my debts to Japan, said Downey.
While I certainly feel somewhat bad for Mr. Downey, this short exchange gave the impression that nothing similar would ever happen in America! Hah!
U.S. Immigration Law contains restrictions that bar entry to people forever, for virtually any youthful indiscretion they have ever had, e.g. simple possession of a marijuana 20 years ago, without regard to whether or not you were actually convicted of the crime! You do not even need to have been convicted; the fact that you admit you did it will also get you barred from entry. Heck you will even be bounced (http://www.markshuttleworth.com/archives/43) from the United States after overstaying your visa for one day, leaving one day late, and then trying to come back in on that visa. Or, you will be detained and returned because the officer thinks you MIGHT be working (http://addxorrol.blogspot.com/2007/07/ive-been-denied-entry-to-us-essentially.html).
So, if you were watching David Letterman and thanking your lucky stars that America is far nicer to arriving tourists than Japan--think again!

If you wish to travel to England to travel to another destination without going through the Danish border and you have no right to carry in the UK without a visa, you need a direct airside transit visa, unless exemptions they direct airside transit visa. If you are a visa national and you pass through immigration control because you stop in the United Kingdom for over 24 hours you should use a visitor in transit visa.

Hi Milind,
Thanks for the info. Is there any way of notifying USCIS, if the new job from existing employer is EB2 level (I mean a promotion to senior level) so that the application is processed quickly!

Hi all,
I have contributed to this site and wanted to raise our profile a little more among the techies of the world. I've submitted a story on www.digg.com (which , like slashdot, is read by hundreds and thousands of techies). Please "digg" the story so it rises up in rank and appears on the front page. This could lead to interested people contributing.
Here is the link : (search for "legal immigration" or "green card" to see my story post . The story will be posted by "saiko")

Not sure what to say. But I believe in your original H1 petition requested dates of employment were only for one and a half month and I think you will get only that. Unless attorney files an amendment and documentation for additional 3 years. I dont think USCIS will even look at I-140 approval since it was not eve part of the packet
What is your attorney saying?
